Going Green....Gone Wrong!!

Everywhere I turn there is someone telling others to "go green". Well, I think Madonna took this advice totally wrong!

Disney Chicks!

After spending time with my 6-year old sister and the Disney Channel, I have realized how early fashion and self-expression starts. I think that many of the girls on the Disney Channel shows are setting a great example for little girls out there like my sister. The actresses each have their own distinct personality and they each express themselves extremely well through their clothing and accessories, and their overall style chosen for each episode. These actresses may not realize it, but I believe that they are teaching their young viewer's a great lesson. They are teaching their viewer's to develop their own style and their own self-expression at a young age.

Here are a few pics of some of the Disney Channel girls and their great, unique styles and fashion.

Brenda Song: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody

Miley Cyrus: Hannah Montana

Sabrina Bryan, Adrienne Bailon, Raven Symone, and Kiely Willams: The Cheetah Girls

Emily Osment: Hannah Montana

Anneliese Van Der Pol: That's So Raven

Selena Gomez: Wizards of Waverly Place

C-O-L-D spells COLD!

Sorry I haven't written in a while peeps, but I have been super busy with school and LIFE. But I miss you guys! Well, since I've been out for a while I think that the first thing I should do is add a link for you girls and guys who don't seem to understand that IT IS COLD OUTSIDE!

For the ladies out there who feel like they must wear the short shorts and mini-skirts, throw some tights on underneath. No one looks good wearing a terrible cough or pneumonia. So when you wake up in the morning and realize that it's cold don't put on a pair of Uggs and think that they will warm you entire body. If you don't like to wear huge coats or jeans, try a cute skirt and tights or try putting on layers. A sweater with a long-sleeved shirt underneath will help keep you warm and healthy, unlike a short sleeved t-shirt, running shorts, and Ugg boots.

Another cute item that you can wear to protect yourself from the cold is a scarf. Yes guys, scarves are not only for fashion, they can also keep your neck warm. WOW!! Not only do they protect you from cold, but they also spice up every outfit. So before you run out of the dorm in the morning throw one on.

On a positive note, I have seen some of the most amazing boots walking around campus this week. The super sexy, stylish ways that I have seen people rocking boots has really been impressive. This is a great way for you to keep warm. Don't throw on a pair of flip-flops with your tights or jeans. Go out and grab a pair of cute ankle high boots or a pair of knee high boots.

Also for the guys, I think that you all should remember to stay warm in order to stay healthy as well. Don't forget that it's okay for guys to wear scarves. Actually, it's pretty attractive and makes you look very sophisticated (if you do it right). Guys, it's okay to wear your grungy tees and your ripped jeans, but also try to layer it up. If you must show some skin, try to only do it once your in class. A nice hoodie or coat from Oldnavy can do the trick. And they're pretty cheap! yay! And although many of you guys are getting more and more comfortable wearing flip-flops, it's not a good idea to wear them now. Your feet need to be covered in this kind of weather. So try getting some boots (Polo boots are HOT) or try getting a nice pair of Sperry's.

Okay guys, I know I'm not a doctor, but after seeing many of the students walking around campus wearing summer outfits, I realized that common sense is apparently not common. So remember that's it's getting cold out there and if you want to look good on the outside, and you want to stay fashionable, you also need to want to stay healthy!

My President::: BARACK OBAMA!!!

Chills ran across my body last night after realizing that one day this image will be in a history book. To witness this amazing moment in history has been a highlight of my life and I will never forget the feeling I received after hearing the newscaster say, "Barack Obama is the President Elect of the United States!" It's amazing to me that the President of the United States is a black man just like my father, Terrence, and my grandfathers, Jack and George. It also brings me great pride to know that the First Lady is a black woman just like my mother, Latarsha and my grandmothers, Alice and Jean. This is an image that I thought I would have never experienced, but now that it is happening I can finally say that I am proud to be an American. I am also proud to be a black female in America.

After asking people what Barack Obama's presidency meant to them in one word, here are a few of the words I got:
Love-Peace-Happiness-Change-Pride-Hope-Unity-Equality-Faith-Progress-Amazing-Daddy-Beauty-Cooperation-No War-Passion-Ability-Strength

After hearing these encouraged responses from my peers and seeing the Obama pride around campus, I am extremely excited to see what Barack Obama will do for not only America, but the world. I still don't think people understand the magnitude of the history that we all have witnessed. This moment will be in history books one day. Barack Obama has endured through threats, struggles, family deaths, and so much more for us! Not only for himself and his family, but for ME AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU!!! Barack has given the African American community hope, he has given the Mexican American community hope, he has given the European American community hope! I think that he has instilled a feeling of hope and progress and change in every one of his supporters.

These two girls said they stayed up all night and watched the election and when they found out Obama was the new President, they immediately ran and created these shirts! I thought they were amazing when I saw them in class.

Well, I know that I could ramble and ramble all day about how excited I am to see Barack Obama in the White House. I could also go on and on about how much I think Michelle Obama is going to rise, and finally give the real black women of America a voice. They are both major role models to me and I think that children of the future will always believe in possibility. The children of the future will read about the Presidents prior to Obama, and the way that we thought there would NEVER be a black President, and they will LAUGH! I believe that my own little sister and brother will grow up and not only will they know that they can do anything....But they will believe it and they will conquer the impossible.
